The brand new izh motorcycle is the bike with most sophisticated technological implemented systems. It has everything that a modern car is equipped with. But let's start with some history lesson first.
Back in 1927 the Russian motorcycle brand was one of the biggest factories in the world with 11 000 000 bikes produced since the 1927. However mainly the izh was a well-known producer of weapons (for example the AK-47 famous "Kalashnikov"). For the civil market though they had also automotive factory and they were the main Soviet motorcycle supplier before the falling of the USSR. But in spite of these facts the russian brand is absolutely unknown in the Western countries.
So the 1929 model of the izh motorcycle was with 1200cc V-twin engine placed transversally, three speed gearbox with shaft drive system, 23 hp, and the bottom rear part of the frame was a functional exhaust.

The engine will be V-twin 850cc, 140hp. 50% of it will be made from highly reinforced and heat resistant plastic. With built-in wiring and circuitry which reduces weight and damage to the wires such as corrosion and decay. Also there will be less malfunctions and the diagnostics will be more precise. The engine has the cutting edge automatic smart fuel-regulating system for best mpg. In additon the is a brushless 60KW electric motori that is built-in the rear rim, with a 2-speed gearbox (that makes the bike a perfect hybrid). The power for the E.motor comes from a Lithium Sulfide Battery (Li2s) that is located aat the rear of the engine as you can see from the photos. This hybrid should be giving out around 80 MPG !!! A 6 speed clutch, with available automatic transmission. And all that fury is stopped by MAGNETIC brakes (the ones that stop the roller-coasters in disneyland ... yeah its awesome) with a hydraulic back-up system. The clutch, brakes and throttle are all electronically controlled for a precise driving experience.
Safety
Nowadays the safety issue is one step close to perfection. Therefore the izh motorcycle is equipped with DUAL AIRBAG system. The key in a front end collision is to keep the bike straight and stable so the front takes all of the force beacuse bikes don't have zone which absorbs the impact. Well not anymore .. Mr. Igor Chak has developed such a zone. First, the front airbag takes 50% of the hit and keeps the back tire stable to the ground. In most cases, in a front end collision the bikes back almost works as a catapult that launches the rider forward. The front airbag also keeps the distance between the main airbag and the object big enough to prevent any fractures. That gives the rider more space ro be caught with an airbag. The main airbag is uniquely designed. The pointy arms catch the riders shoulders, blocking the body from moving forward. The skeleton fork design works as a zone that absorbs the impact. Upon impact the fork locks forward to take maximum hit at the correct angle. with this safety pack the rider is more likely to survive and sustain a minimum damage to the body in an accident.
The izh motorcycle also has something called proximity regulating radar system that works together with a front facing on-board camera. It can be programmed for any distance between the bike and an object. So if a car in front of you unexpectedly breaks the system will automatically brake or slow down to keep the minimum distance. The radar/camera can detect an object as small as a bunny. The camera also has night vision mode. Every potential danger is displayed on the onboard 3D LCD screen. The object will be outlined on the LCD so the rider will know where the potential danget is. This is usually helpful during poor visibility. The handlebars will vibrate to warn the rider of a possible warning... car too close, blind spot, pedestrian and etc. The bike also has proximity side sensors to detect objects in the so called "blind spots" and the blind spot marker are located on the off side of the mirrors. It has other safety features such as: advanced traction control that automatically adjusts to ice, water, dirt, oil; an accelerometer to let the headlights turn when you turn; stabilizer to avoid wobble and advanced ABS system. Front intakes are not only for esthetical purposes but are a major construction part. Firstly they provide a steady flow of air to the cooling radiator, secondly they work as aerodynamic stabilizers to the front when the bike is moving at high speeds. Daylight running lights come also as a standart feature.
Connect
Nowadays we nedd to keep in touch 24/7 (social sites, personal stuff and etc). That's exactly why this motorcycle has everything needed to stay connected to the world. The onboard computer regulates/adjusts everything to have a safe and comfortable journey. The main unit talks to you via on board 3D Touch Screen LCD. The LCD displays warnings, maintenance that has to be done, diagnostics, checks and more. The bike has 3 modes: sport, comfort and manual.
One of the most interesting features is the izh motorcycle connection to the real world. IZHs display uses an augmented reality technology. Augmented reality (may sound to you something from the iron man .. well it is) is translated through an HD camera built into the front with night vision mode. With this technology GPS navigation has been translated in real time. The navigation pass is overlaid into what the camera sees and displayed on the main display. This also makes it easier way to find commercial points of interest. Augmented reality also works as a safety features to outline potential hazards.
Another fascinating feature is ability to remotely control your mobile device on your main display. IZH will connect with any major mobile OS: iPhone, Windows, Blackberry, Symbian, Android and etc. With this feature rhe rider will have an ability to answer a phone call without reaching into a pocket but by pressing on a control scroll wheel located on the left handle bar. Answering phone calls is only feature that can be used while in motion, for safety reasons. When the bike is at standstill the rider can take full advantage of their phone: SMS, web, videos, apps and etc. Standart connectivity features full on GPS, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, and 4G.
Meaningless to say this new IZH 2012 concept is the way to a new era in the motorcycles .... way to go Igor.
